What are the implications of the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which came into force in May 2018, and its extra-territorial implementation in American archives and special collections? How do cultural humility, professional ethics, and social justice efforts help us navigate requirements when there is no case law to guide us? Can we balance the privacy rights of EEA residents against transparency goals relating to the data we collect and hold about individuals?
